Land Clearing Cost in Meridian, ID

Around Meridian, the clearing that needs a machine is rarely in the middle of a field. It is on the edges: a lateral grown shut with Russian olive, a fence row nobody has touched in years, river frontage gone to brush, or acreage outside Kuna or Star that has filled in with volunteer trees. Bank and fence strips are priced by the acreage they add up to, and usually sit in the lower clearing row. Whole parcels are priced by the acre and move with how thick the growth is. The four rows below cover both.

Your quote comes back as a single figure on paper, with the method and the finish beside it. Forestry mulching grinds brush, small trees and stumps into mulch on site, with stumps flush with the ground and nothing hauled away. Full stump removal below grade and cut-and-haul for very large trees are discussed and priced in the quote. Grading and build pads are not part of our price: we clear to the ground so a builder can grade. Herbicide on Russian olive stumps is a licensed applicator's work and price, not ours.

Meridian Rates by Type of Work

Forestry Mulching

$1,500 – $4,000 / acre

Brush, volunteer trees and overgrowth ground to mulch where they stand, with stumps flush and the chips left on site. Scattered brush on flat, dry ground prices low; a closed stand of bigger trees on a soft river lot prices high.

Russian Olive & Ditch-Bank Clearing

$1,500 – $2,500 / acre

Russian olive and brush taken off a ditch bank, fence row or river frontage, with the cottonwoods and willows you keep left standing. A bank or fence strip counted by its acreage equivalent usually falls in this row.

Land Clearing

$1,500 – $4,500 / acre

A whole parcel taken to the finish written into the quote. Light brush on open ground lands near the bottom; a dense stand of mature trees mulched down to ground level lands near the top. Full stump removal below grade, or cut-and-haul for very large trees, is discussed and priced in the quote.

Lot & Homesite Prep

$1,500 – $4,500 / acre equivalent

A house footprint, drive and utility path opened on a brushy acreage lot. We clear to the ground so your builder can grade; grading and the pad are not part of this price.

Where an acre falls inside its row depends on the growth on it. $1,500 is the minimum charge for a project, and it is the whole charge for a small job rather than an extra fee: the trailer trip to a Middleton fence row or a Kuna lateral is the same whether the machine runs for a morning or a day. Neighbours on one ditch who book together, or one owner with several small areas, get far more work out of that minimum.

Five Factors Behind a Meridian Price

How thick the growth is and how big the trees are

An acre of knee-high brush and saplings goes through the mulching head quickly. Russian olive or volunteer elm grown to trunks you would need a saw for takes far longer, and a closed thicket of them takes hours. Density and trunk size are the largest swing in a Treasure Valley quote.

Which trees you keep

Keeping a row of cottonwoods along the water, or a few shade trees around a house site, costs less than grinding them, and on a river lot it keeps the bank shaded. Working around a trunk takes more care than running straight through, so flag every tree you want kept before anyone prices the job.

Ditch banks, laterals and wet ground

Ditch work is narrow, and the edge of a canal or lateral is often soft while water is running. A bank that the machine can reach from a dry field side prices lower than one it has to work from the water side. If the bank sits inside an irrigation district's easement, ask the district first; that can move a start date, though it does not change our rate.

Russian olive regrowth

Russian olive carries thorns and sprouts again from the stump and roots after it is cut. Our price covers bringing the trees down and grinding them. The stump treatment that stops them sprouting is your licensed applicator's work and price, and a follow-up visit for suckers, if one is needed, is quoted on its own.

Permits and what happens to the brush

Meridian's Community Development department and Ada County Development Services can tell you whether your scope needs anything from them, and disturbing an acre or more of soil brings in the state stormwater permit. Neither changes our rate, though either can move a start date. Mulching leaves no pile, so there is no burn day to wait for.

Meridian Pricing Questions

Most Treasure Valley scopes fall between $1,500 and $4,500 an acre. A fence row of light brush or an acre of saplings sits near the bottom; a wet river lot thick with mature Russian olive and elm sits near the top. A mulching job is a single pass that leaves the ground where it lies, stumps flush under the chips. Clearing goes further, to a finish you choose, and that can add stump removal below grade or cut-and-haul for very large trees, both priced in the quote. More hours on the machine is the whole difference between a $4,000 ceiling and a $4,500 one, and your quote says which you are buying. The Meridian forestry mulching cost guide compares the two in more detail.
Per acre it usually sits in the $1,500 to $2,500 clearing row, because ditch-bank stands are narrow. What adds cost is the follow-up, outside our price: the trees sprout again from the stump and roots, so plan a stump treatment by your licensed applicator and a check the next season. Our Russian olive removal guide sets out the timing.
Most tree service prices around Boise are per tree or per stump: one tree felled, one stump ground. That works for a yard. An acre of brush and small trees is priced by the acre, because the machine grinds everything in one pass, stumps included. If you have a per-tree quote for a whole acre, ask for it as a single total and compare it with the bands above.
