Forestry Mulching
A tracked carrier with a mulching head grinds standing brush, vines and small trees into chips where they stand. Stumps are ground flush with the surface rather than pulled, and the material stays on the property as a mat instead of going into a pile.
You get back a floor you can walk, see across and put a tractor on, with the trees you asked us to keep still standing. On Sand Hills ground the mat earns its keep, because sandy soil here holds little organic matter and chips put some back.
It suits a woodlot that has closed in, understory beneath a planted pine stand, and the young growth that shot up through the canopy holes the 2024 storm punched. It is also the one route that works in every month at every address here, since nothing is piled and nothing is burned.
It is the wrong method for building ground. Nothing is graded, stumps stay put, and large storm timber may still need cutting and moving. A field you mean to disk wants the clearing route instead.

Land Clearing
Whole-tract work, with the finish written into the quote before a machine is booked: whether stumps come out or are ground flush, whether material is ground in place or cut, stacked and hauled off, and how the ground is left. Grading is a separate line.
The finish is the point. A tract cleared for pasture, for hay, for a shop site or for a commercial pad are four different jobs, and the difference is decided in the scope rather than on the day.
It suits turning woods into open ground, a parcel where the whole thing has to go rather than an edge, and storm ground where tipped root plates and the craters under them need handling instead of mulching over. It is wrong if you want the place to stay wooded, which is selective work or a mulching pass.
Two local questions set the start date, and neither of them is our rate: what may happen to the material at that address in that month, and which office reviews the disturbance, since Richmond County, Columbia County and South Carolina each run their own track. Requirements vary by parcel, scope and jurisdiction, and the governing authority makes the determination.
Regrowth & Understory Work
The lightest scope on this page and the one most often bundled into a single visit. A mulching head or a heavy cutter takes fence lines, field edges, ditch banks, the understory under planted pine and the thicket that came up wherever a canopy opened.
You end up with ground you can walk and see across, a fence you can find, a sight line on a blind curve, and a boundary a surveyor can work along. Keeper trees are left alone; the pass is aimed at what came up beneath them.
It is not a permanent cure and we would rather say so. Cut Brush works mechanically and applies no herbicide, so hardwood sprouts, greenbrier and privet come back from the root, and on sandy old fields around Hephzibah and Waynesboro sweetgum and loblolly seedlings return fastest. Plan on a repeat pass.

Lot & Homesite Prep
The building envelope, the drive, the utility run and the septic area cleared to the scope you and your builder set, with what happens to the material and what covers the bare ground settled in the quote rather than left for the first thunderstorm. Grading and pad building are priced separately.
The finish is a lot a surveyor can stake, a builder can read and a truck can get into, with any keeper trees marked before work starts. It is not final grade, footings or driveway base.
It suits an acre in Grovetown, Evans or North Augusta waiting on a house, a barn or shop site, or a well and a drive going into back acreage that has never had either.
Sand is the thing to plan around here. Troup series soils carry sandy layers from the surface down to roughly 44 inches and drain rapidly, which is easy going for a machine when dry and easy erosion once the cover is off. North into Columbia County the surface firms into clay, which holds water and slows a tracked machine after rain.

Fence Line Clearing
Wire and board fence on field edges in Burke, Columbia and Edgefield counties vanishes under privet and brambles in a few seasons. We cut a clean strip either side.
Brush Hogging
Heavy mowing for old hayfields, pasture and large lots that missed a few cuts. Anything thicker than a wrist wants a mulching head, and we will say which your field needs.
Invasive Species Removal
Mechanical work on what runs wild here: privet through creek bottoms, kudzu on roadbanks and storm-opened edges, wisteria around old homeplaces, Callery pear seedlings in fallow fields. Nothing is sprayed.

A standing interval instead of a rescue. Sandy old fields come back to sweetgum and loblolly seedlings quickly, and a pass every year or two beats clearing a decade of it.
