A tracked machine on a long side slope works shorter lines, turns more often and spends time repositioning that it never spends on a flat tract, so the same acre of the same brush costs more on a hillside than it does on a bottom. Greenville County changes category at 5,000 square feet of disturbance rather than at an acre, and again at an acre where a full land disturbance permit and state coverage both apply. If the work is meant to count as farming, the county asks for documented proof of it rather than taking the description at face value. None of this changes our hourly reality, but a job that starts before the paperwork is settled is a job that stops, so the lead time belongs in the schedule instead of the surprise column.
