Land Clearing Cost in Eagle Point, OR

Around Eagle Point a clearing price is set as much by the calendar and the brush pile as by the acreage. Most Rogue Valley jobs land between $1,500 and $4,500 an acre, with a minimum charge of about $1,500 where small jobs start. Winter water sits on the flat ground north of Medford, summer fire levels can shorten the day on wooded land, and brush cannot simply be burned inside the Rogue Basin control area without a DEQ letter permit. Blackberry, widespread across Jackson County, is the growth most jobs start with. The ranges below are for budgeting.

Your quote is a single written figure for the agreed finish, with any follow-up visit for blackberry or tree of heaven regrowth shown on a separate line you can accept or decline. The figure covers forestry mulching: brush, small trees and stumps ground up on site, stumps left flush with the ground and nothing hauled off. Stump removal below grade, or felling and hauling very large trees, is discussed and priced in the quote. Grading and build pads are not part of our price; we clear to the ground so a builder can grade. Spraying, where a plan needs it, is a licensed applicator's work.

Eagle Point Rates by Type of Work

Forestry Mulching

$1,500 – $4,000 / acre

Brush, blackberry and saplings shredded on the spot by one machine. Open, younger growth on dry, level ground sits near $1,500 an acre; dense old thickets with heavy stems, or a steep acre of young trees, push toward $4,000.

Blackberry & Brush Clearing

$1,500 – $2,500 / acre

Armenian blackberry, brush and saplings taken out of a pasture edge, along a fence or from beneath trees that stay. A fence line strip is measured by the area it covers, so a long thin run is priced as the fraction of an acre it adds up to.

Land Clearing

$1,500 – $4,500 / acre

An entire lot or pasture brought to the finish named in your quote. Light, scattered growth on open ground is at the bottom of the range; a full stand of trees taken all the way down sits at the top. Stumps are ground level with the surface, and digging them out below grade is priced separately.

Lot & Homesite Prep

$1,500 – $4,500 / acre equivalent

Space opened for the house, driveway and utility lines on a rural lot, planned around the hollows that hold winter water. Our price ends where the soil begins; leveling and the building pad belong to your builder.

Small jobs start at a minimum charge of about $1,500, because trailering the mulcher to one blackberry patch behind a house in White City takes the same truck, fuel and setup as a day of work. A job that size is charged the minimum, not an acre rate with a fee added; larger jobs are priced by the acre inside the bands. Adding the other patches and fence lines on the property to the same visit makes that minimum go further.

What Moves an Eagle Point Quote

The month you book

On the flat ground north of Medford, around White City and Eagle Point, a hardpan less than three feet down holds winter rain at the surface in shallow pools. Tracks sink and rut that ground in the wet months, so it clears fastest once it dries out. On wooded land under state fire protection, the summer fire precaution levels can cut the working day short. A start date with a few weeks of give is worth more than haggling.

How thick the blackberry has grown

A fence line with a season or two of canes goes down in a single pass. A thicket left for ten years is a mound of canes taller than a person, often with old fence, junk or young trees buried inside. The volume of growth, more than the acreage, decides where an acre lands in its band.

Slope and trees on the hillsides

Flat valley pasture is quick going. A brushy hillside lot takes more care, because the machine works across and down the grade slowly, and a closed stand of young trees takes more machine time than open brush. Any big tree you want cut and hauled away is talked through and priced in the quote.

Whether the brush has to go somewhere

Inside the Rogue Basin open burning control area, DEQ needs a letter permit before brush and stumps from a clearing job can be burned. Mulching it in place avoids that question and the cost of hauling, which is why the bands above assume the brush stays on your land as mulch.

Reaching the work

A wide gate and a solid lane mean the trailer unloads next to the work and the machine spends its time mulching. A tight driveway, a wet crossing, a steep climb in, or patches scattered around the property all take time away from cutting. We ask about the way in when we call to talk through your quote.

Eagle Point Pricing Questions

Most work here runs $1,500 to $4,500 an acre. Blackberry and brush along a fence or pasture edge usually prices near the bottom, and a dense stand of young trees mulched to the soil near the top, but a given acre can land anywhere in its band depending on the growth and the footing. The $1,500 minimum is the floor for small jobs, not the going rate for an acre.
Because whole-parcel clearing takes on heavier stands and larger trees, it needs more hours on the machine than mulching brush in place, so its band reaches $4,500 an acre where mulching stops at $4,000. Grading is in neither, and stumps dug out below grade are an extra line if you want them. For the mulching figure, and how to weigh an hourly bid against it, read the Eagle Point forestry mulching cost guide.
Per acre, usually not. A few trees in a fence line price in the $1,500 to $2,500 brush band, and a dense grove moves into the mulching band. What adds cost is that it resprouts from the roots after cutting, so the plan includes a licensed applicator's treatment and return visits for suckers. Our Oregon tree of heaven removal guide sets out the order and what each step costs.
Rules change the method and the timing more than the rate. DEQ's 1200-C stormwater permit applies once clearing or grading disturbs an acre or more, and burning cleared brush in the Rogue Basin control area needs a DEQ letter permit. Requirements vary by parcel, scope and jurisdiction, and the governing authority makes the determination. The ground and permit picture is on the Eagle Point land clearing page.
