Land Clearing Cost in Sweet Home, OR
More than half the land within 15 miles of Sweet Home is evergreen forest, and on the parcels people clear, what has grown back decides the bill: broom on old harvest ground, brush pushing into a field, young conifers crowding a slope. Clearing land around Sweet Home runs $1,500 to $4,500 an acre, and a small job is billed a minimum charge of about $1,500. The weather decides the rest, with soaked ground from fall into spring and fire rules on wooded land in summer. The bands below are the figures to budget with.
Your quote gives one price, in writing, for the agreed finish, and a seedling visit for broom, if you want one, sits on its own line. The price covers forestry mulching: brush, small trees and stumps ground up on site, stumps left flush with the ground and nothing hauled off. Stump removal below grade, or felling and hauling very large trees, is discussed and priced in the quote. Grading and build pads are not part of our price; we clear to the ground so a builder can grade. Any spraying a plan needs is a licensed applicator's work.

Sweet Home Rates by Type of Work
Forestry Mulching
$1,500 – $4,000 / acre
Broom, brush and saplings ground into chips where they stand. A thin stand on a level field sits near $1,500 an acre; a thick mix of young conifers, broom and old slash on a foothill slope moves toward $4,000.
Scotch Broom & Brush Clearing
$1,500 – $2,500 / acre
Broom and brush cut out of a field margin, a fence line or the ground under trees you are keeping. A narrow strip is priced by the area it adds up to, and a seedling visit in a later season is listed as its own line.
Land Clearing
$1,500 – $4,500 / acre
A whole parcel taken to the finish your quote describes. Scattered growth on open ground prices low; a closed stand of young trees cleared to the soil prices at the top. Stumps finish flush, and pulling them below grade is a separate line.
Lot & Homesite Prep
$1,500 – $4,500 / acre equivalent
The house spot, the drive and the utility route opened on a wooded or brushy parcel, with room left for the fuel break a house on forest land needs. We finish at the surface; grading and the pad are your builder's.
Small jobs start at a minimum charge of about $1,500. Hauling the mulcher up to a single broom patch beside a house in the hills needs the same haul, unloading and setup as a long day, so a job that size is billed at the minimum in place of an acre rate, and nothing is added on top. Bigger jobs are priced by the acre inside the bands, and adding the other corners of the property to the same trip gets more from that minimum.
What Moves a Sweet Home Quote
When the machine goes in
Rain around Sweet Home averages more than 7 inches a month from November through January and under an inch in July. Soaked ground slows a tracked machine and scars easily, so most work fits the dry months. On wooded land in summer, fire precaution levels can end the working day at 1 p.m. A start date that can move a few weeks around both is the cheapest thing you can offer.
How old the broom stand is
Broom a couple of years old is thin stems the drum takes in stride. A stand left for a decade can be head high and solid, with dead wood inside it. Density and height, more than the acreage on the deed, decide where an acre lands in its band. Young trees growing up through the broom add stems the drum has to take one at a time.
Cutover ground and slope
A parcel logged some years back can hide old stumps, slash and skid trails under the regrowth, and foothill ground tilts. Both slow the machine. A level valley field is quick by comparison. If part of a hillside is too steep for safe machine work, we say so before the quote is final and leave that part out. Any large tree you want felled and hauled off is discussed and priced in the quote.
What becomes of the brush
Within three miles of Sweet Home, Lebanon, Albany, OR and the other Linn County cities named in OAR 340-264-0110, burning clearing debris needs a DEQ letter permit. The bands assume the brush stays on your ground as mulch, which avoids that permit and any hauling.
The way in
A gate wide enough for a trailer and a firm lane to the work let the machine start mulching soon after it unloads. A steep logging spur, a soft crossing or patches spread across the property all take time from the cutting. A gravel forest road that carries a trailer in August may not after a week of November rain. We ask about access when we call about the quote.
