What to Know Before Clearing Land Around Corinth
Call the city or county first. The City of Corinth's permit page lists residential,
commercial and floodplain building applications and a fee sheet, and the city's planning office
keeps a land development code. We found no standalone clearing permit named on those pages, and the
Alcorn County site lists no permit page at all, so we claim none. Requirements vary by parcel, scope
and jurisdiction, and the governing authority makes the determination. The
Corinth and Alcorn County
permit guide lists who to call.
State stormwater starts at one acre. The Mississippi Department of Environmental
Quality covers land disturbance of one acre or more, with a small construction permit from one to
under five acres and a large one from five acres up. A house site on a wooded hillside can pass
one acre quickly, so tell any contractor how many acres will be disturbed and what finish you want.
Kudzu comes back from the crown. The Mississippi Forestry Commission describes a
vine that can grow about a foot a day, controlled by repeated cutting and repeated herbicide use,
and it runs a cost-share program for private landowners who treat it. Mulching opens the slope and
makes the regrowth easy to reach; a treatment on that regrowth is the step that keeps it down. The
kudzu hillside guide
sets out the order.
